Bloxham Tapes BT31

The 31st release on Bloxham Tapes is by Ryan James Mawbey, an experimental English drummer for whom resonance, repetition and deep listening are important components of his craft.

Using a palette of drums, percussion, tape, synth and field recordings, Ryan’s practice revolves around meditative phrases within repetitive patterns, enduringly played to induce "space of mind".

'Archival Recordings' gathers together his home creations, site-specific improvisations and collaborations, archiving activity from June 2018 to October 2020. A further release, titled Eternal Return, is scheduled for release on Eiderdown Records later this year.
