Bloxham Tapes BT32

The 32nd release on Bloxham Tapes is an immersive set by Alex Vagenas.

Currently based in Greece, Alex has been writing and performing music both as a solo artist and as a member of various bands (Mysterians; Casual Nun; Krause; Black Water) in London and Athens, for a number of years.

'I Saw Water' is a group of compositions not only inspired by the writings of British painter, occultist, poet and author Ithell Colquhoun, but also by real and imagined British soundscapes and landscapes.

Field recordings, samples and acoustic and electric instruments come together to form occasionally unsettling psychedelic shoals, darting around Alex's elegant synth improvisations.

According to Alex, each of the four pieces "explores the diverse associations of water and other symbols encountered in the secret history of the British mindscape". So, consider 'I Saw Water' an ambient soundtrack to the waterways of your grey matter... and take a deep dive inside yourself.
