about

Bloxham Tapes BT18

Emerging from the liminal zone between winter and spring, the eighteenth release on Bloxham Tapes is ‘Transmissions (The Inbetween World)’ by BLACK KNIGHT SATELLITE.

BLACK KNIGHT SATELLITE sees WOLF PEOPLE bassist Dan Davies relinquish the bass guitar in favour of wordless six-string serenades and Bloxham Tapes taking a diversion into the pastoral, drawing water from the instrumental psych-folk-rock well.

“With these recordings, I wanted to evoke something of the feeling of a mushroomy wander in the woods, getting a sense of being both closer to nature and earthly otherness,” explains Dan.

Recorded last year, these moonlit back-garden improvisations – lovingly stitched together for your aural pleasure – sees Dan, guitarist Stuart Gray (BLACK HELIUM) and woodwind player Rik Choudhuri “getting it together in the country” – or, more accurately, verdant Bethnal Green.

Tumbling fingerpicked guitar notes brush the ear. Synthesised rain trickles down the window pane of Bert and John’s bedsit. Ghosts solidify. Acid jams unfurl.

Emerging blinking from well-thumbed pages of ‘Electric Eden’, BLACK KNIGHT SATELLITE is a potent manifestation of the yesternow.
