Bloxham Tapes are delighted to present the label's 36th release, ‘This Map Contains Semantic Distortion' by OBSIDIAN SHARD.

Unpicking the most recent audio offering from Obsidian Shard was never going to be an easy task. A shadowy figure that deals in the creaks and cracks of this world, theirs is a fragmentary existence operating within the alleyways of sound, skulking about by the audio bins, diving deep, documenting as they go.

This is a world of half-heard snapshots, momentary scraps and scrapes, of woozy wonk, of beautiful approximations. A stuttering survey where everything is at once familiar and somehow otherworldly.

Of the person behind the sounds themselves, this great audio excavator of noise and tone, there is little to tell. Not because we don’t want to, but because we can’t. Like the origins of the audio fragments themselves, Obsidian Shard remains a mystery.
